“Shock Waves in Elastic and Elastic-Plastic Media”, 1956,
was Bertram Brobergs Doctor’s thesis and later translated into Russian
and Chinese.
In “A Problem on Stress Waves in an Infinite Elastic Plate”, 1959, a technique
for inversion of Laplace Transforms, later known as the Cagniard-De Hoop
technique, was employed.
In “The Propagation of a Brittle Crack”, 1960, the first solution to the
problem of a dynamically expanding crack was given.
“On the Speed of a Brittle Crack” contains the first determination of
the energy release in the dynamic crack situation.
In “Crack-Growth Criteria and Non-Linear Fracture Mechanics”, 1971, the
J-integral criterion for onset of crack growth (now widely accepted in
both research work and engineering) was first proposed.
In “On Stable Crack Growth”, 1975, a treatment leading to the so-called
J-resistance curve was proposed.
In “On Transient Sliding Motion”, 1978, the ground motion near a shallow
earthquake was investigated.
In “On the Mechanical Behaviour of Intervertebral Discs”, 1980, a realistic
model of a lumbar disc was studied.
In “The Foundations of Fracture Mechanics”, 1982, a critical review was
made of presently used methods in fracture mechanics.
In “On Crack Paths”, 1987, the first laboratory produced mode II crack
at monotone loading is presented.
In “A Path-Independent Integral for Plates”, 1987, a previous path-independent
integral is generalized.
In “Slow Deformation of Intervertebral Discs”, 1993, diurnal variations
of the height of the human body were explained, In “Intersonic Bilateral
Slip”, 1994, the possibility for slip propagation at intersonic speeds
was explored.
In “The cell model of materials”, 1997, a material model based on the
dominant microscopic phenomena at crack formation and propagation was
suggested.
In “Intersonic mode II crack acceleration”, 1999, the first solution for
a crack propagating at non-constant intersonic velocity was given.

In “Significance of morphology changes at a propagating crack edge", 2004,
the implications of crack surface morphology and remote load on the terminal
crack velocity was considered.
