The UCD College of Engineering, Physical & Mathematical Sciences (EMPS) will hold an annual competition for the Bertram Broberg Memorial Medal. It aims to distinguish young researchers who have recently completed a Ph.D. thesis on a topic overlapping with the research interests of Professor Broberg which spanned a wide range of fields covered by the College: www.bertrambroberg.eu.

Application Process: Candidates from the UCD College of Engineering, Physical & Mathematical Sciences who have been awarded their PhD thesis (or passed their doctoral viva voce examination) in the calendar year 20+n qualify for the Award and are invited to submit an application. The closing date for receipt of applications is will be early in 20+(n+1).

The application must be submitted electronically to the Vice Principal for Research & Innovation (VPRI) within the UCD College of EMPS. Applicants must include a short statement explaining how their work relates to the research interests of Professor Broberg,

• a copy of their thesis
• any associated peer-reviewed publications
• Curriculum Vitae
• a letter of recommendation from the thesis supervisor, examiner, Head of Discipline or Head of School.

Award Process: The EMPS VPRI will convene a panel of UCD judges with representatives from each of the Schools most closely associated with the research interests of Professor Broberg. The winner will be selected on the basis of research excellence.
