The second K Betram Broberg Memorial Symposium,
on Mechanics of Materials , took place on the 25th and 26th of May 2009.
The format of the Symposium in Lund was planned to be the same as in Dublin 2007:
- Max 50 participants
- Two days
- Abstracts only, no full review, but second opinion from committee/advisors when in doubt
- Ravi Chandar, Alan Needleman have been invited as key note speakes
The symposium had four bridging pillars
- Bridging borders: Swedish / Irish “core”
- Bridging generations: “greys and greens”
- Bridging dimensions: micro to macro
- Bridging materials: bio-, geo-, man-made
It is essential to have a broad scope which reflects Bertram’s almost limitless area of interests and to attract the “right” people in a world of dedicated symposia
